Story Behind the Name

In 2017, a group of mothers in the San Gabriel Valley began to meet, to support one another. The name they chose for their group was Mama Elephants, from what they learned about this noble animal: when one mother elephant is giving birth, other elephants will surround her, for protection and privacy. And when the mother has safely delivered her baby, the surrounding elephants will trumpet in celebration.

This is just one way elephants show that they are highly communal and amazingly sensitive creatures. These mothers wanted to cultivate this same type of community, where they would encourage each other in difficulty, and celebrate each other in success. 

From this idea, Little Elephants was born. This is a place where moms and dads and guardians and caregivers alike can come enjoy time with their children, amidst the challenges and busyness of life. Our hope is to create an atmosphere of love and joy for all families who desire the same.
